ABOUT ME:
hey, i'm bex!
i'm a bigender freak currently living in Portland, Oregon. my main pronouns are he/him.
i have been a performer my entire life, and right now i am primarily a pole dancing instructor and a stripper. (i also perform in certain online contexts, if you catch my drift.)
i'm supposedly considered a "zillenial," because i remember a lot of the things that 90s kids remember but i'm barely not a 90s kid. do with that information what you will.
if i have free time, i typically spend it dancing or playing music! i was a ballerina (back in the day. sigh.), and i'm also a former symphony violinist. aside from ballet i've always been particularly fond of tap dancing, and i will make an attempt to play any instrument i can get my hands on as long as it has strings or buttons.
i spend a lot of my life just kind of sidequesting and collecting new skills and hobbies, because variety is the spice of life or something like that. a couple of years ago i passed a sommelier exam and worked in the wine industry. i went to law school once (and you see where that got me). i taught myself html in a week and made this website. sometimes i think about becoming a mortician.
you know, sidequests.
anyways. i suck pretty bad at writing bios considering how often i have to do it for various things. if you take a look at my "blog" page or poke around on my website for a bit you'll probably get a better idea of what's wrong with me :3

currently, the site is hosted on neocities.
the site will probably always be under construction, and that's okay. it's more fun that way anyways, like rotating exhibits in a museum or something.
WHY A PERSONAL WEBSITE?
i've honestly wanted to make my own website for quite a while, and just didn't get around to it until recently. for people trying to make a living in my line of work, mainstream social media is a bit of a minefield [seriously. i could be pole dancing fully clothed + deliberately unsexy and the instagram police would still snipe me], and i really miss the era of doing whatever the fuck you wanted on the internet and then just tagging it as "don't like, don't read."
really, i feel like the same-ification of all of our social media is responsible for a lot of the funky dopamine issues that we as a society collectively have now, and i'd much rather make something that feels at least a little productive than scroll instagram comparing myself to other people until my eyes melt out of my head.
the thing that i think is really cool about personal websites and the indieweb in general is how uniquely they reflect the person who made them! i love looking at other peoples' personal websites because everyone is so incredibly creative in their own way.
also, it totally makes me miss the era of plugging html into the tumblr dashboard for the sole purpose of breaking shit in funny ways. dear tumblr i know it was probably a cybersecurity nightmare but bring that feature back i beg of you
