great news! i'm fairly sure i fixed the Connect page so that it works on screens of all sizes now. probably.
less great news [for you guys, not for me lol], i am fully ignoring the nonessential pages that need fixed until i actually decide i want to fix them. sorry lol
BEX MARLOWE // :CIPRALEXX:
anyway. long post didn't read. tldr:
some pages don't work quite right on mobile + desktop for a variety of reasons. i am trying to fix them, but i am also just One Guy who self-taught all of this stuff very recently so you gotta cut me some slack.
i'm mostly just doing this for fun, but also i obviously want the site to work so if you find any glaring site-breaking issues pls message me about them and i will try to fix them expeditiously
so i guess on that note:
hi if you're visiting for the first time from that post i made! [especially if you are on mobile].
i made this entire website myself like,,, from scratch so there are bound to be issues with it. at the moment there are quite a few webpages that haven't been adjusted to fit on a mobile-sized screen [or fully might not work on mobile] but for the most part they shouldn't be accessible to you anyways unless you are poking around in the sitemap.
if you're on desktop, there are some current known issues that i'm trying to deal with--specifically, some of the pages [Connect page is the biggest issue, but other pages that utilize absolute positioning have a problem too] are too big for smaller desktop/laptop windows. right now i'm working on editing the code so that different resolution + screen size breakpoints alter the position of certain elements to make them appear correctly on the screen, but that's still a work in progress.
i'm assuming you are here because you saw a post i made on instagram; in that case, please IM me about any glaring issues you find that make the site unusable for you. desktop users, you have a little accessibility toggle window to make the site a little less hard to look at. mobile users, you currently have a couple of options on the splash page but I am also working on an accessibility dashboard for yall too. i also intend to make a different website "skin" sometime soon if you don't like the neon red, but unfortunately because i am a Bad Coder all of my CSS is a little bit of a disaster so I will have to figure that out before i continue with that plan.
god fine i guess i'll finally post about my site properly so people can at least look at the schedule. but it's super not perfect and a lot of stuff is still broken or unfinished because i'm a Bad Coder lol
oh on the linux note.
i think if you are running some version of mint/debian [idk about arch sry] the optimal amount of zoom for my webbed site is like,,, 120-130% in your browser.
as far as i can tell the browsers all kinda have the same level of zoomed-outed-ness and zooming in doesn't 100% fix it but it does help
wow hi long time no see
i took a bit of a break from website coding because i crashed out on Windows and deleted my entire OS. so now i am using linux. which honestly i had been meaning to do anyways, but didn't get around to it until i got annoyed enough at microsoft i guess
,,,however.
one of the interesting things about linux [at least the version i'm using, which is just Mint] is that it really likes to make everything teeeeeeeny tiny. i don't really know why, and it's been a pain in the butt to try and figure out how to fix it. it also means that my webbed site looks a little different on my end now, since i built the whole damn thing in windows. so i think future webpages may end up looking a little bit odd on some peoples' desktops if they are using windows [which i'd imagine they probably will be], but i will try my best to be more conscious about the whole OS compatibility thing lol
sometimes, you try to fix something about your music player's javascript and it breaks your whole nav? somehow? i actually have no clue what i did so i guess i will not be fixing the music player for now lmao
great news i just remembered that this gif exists
splash pages have been created.
i made a full photo gallery and photo albums page for my recent show photos.
i make an accessibility button panel that [should?] work on every page, in addition to the accessibility toggles on the splash page.
now i'm working on adding an icon for all of my outlinks.
at this point i'm absolutely just stalling because i don't want to make my site reactive for mobile even though i know that's dumb because it probably won't be very hard but for some reason i am dreading it so intensely. like,, i would rather do ANYTHING else but make this damn thing work on mobile but i know i should esp if i want to use it as my professional site in any way >->
okay. splash page actually works now i think (?) but the problem is i have
created like five times as much work for myself by actually making all of those
damn buttons work. the "disable autoplay" feature functions now without breaking
everything which is great.
the problem that i am consistently encountering is that a lot of the things i
want these buttons to do are blocked by the actual web browser because they
don't want the user to click on "malicious" links which like. fair. but your
honor i am just being silly and not malicious i swear
i finally made a fuckin splash page for my site. and corraled(?) all of the
javascript into their own separate files, which has of course broken everything
terribly.
at least it has a mobile version?
the problem with having a to-do list now is that i actually have to do things on the to-do list D':
why is it. december
okay the background was kinda cool before but it was a shitty grid svg that i
made myself and honestly i have no idea what i am doing
but now??
background is just css and it's rad as hell i am eternally grateful to people
who make cool code and then post it on the interweb mr Álvaro you are my savior
finally. a webbed site that hurts even more to look at
hey whoa all of the main pages of this here webbed site are posted that's
crazyyy.
now i can start building. the labyrinth >:3
okay obviously accessibility notes for classes is hella important and i need to
make sure that i put them on my page but GOD why do i teach so many classes.
this isn't even half of the classes i actually teach and i'm already losing it
:')
i don't wanna do productive shit i just want to make a bunch of little pages
that you have to go on a search to find because they aren't linked in my nav lol
me ignoring the broken schedule calendar and building an "about" page that links
to my profile pic instead
good news everyone!
i have finally
created and updated my schedule page, and the calendar Super Does Not Work on
mobile. like,, at all. it also doesn't seem to work if your browser isn't in
fullscreen. so just really great all around.
i'm pretty sure i would
have to start making my pages responsive to fix that and i am Not doing that so
uh. good luck have fun sorry
hot update:
just learned that my homepage music player shows up all
smooshed on some computers/resolutions. unfortunately for you all i am not
fixing it lol

but also the great thing about having your own blog is that you can just post that stupid gif of the lil green guy smacking the camera with a stick as many times as you want and people just have to deal with that lol

spent most of the day pondering the question "is this impossible or am i just an
idiot" while trying to figure out javascript stuff. i am deliberately doing it
as "on my own" as possible because i think the best way to learn is by breaking
shit but good lord i have broken so many things
i've also been
deliberately fucking with the blog page instead of actually making the
scheduling stuff and promoting my classes today and i really couldn't tell you
why. like obviously i'm the world's worst procrastinator (and i also literally
never faced any consequences for it because ya boy can bang out a 10 page paper
in three hours like nobody's business) but at this point i'm not entirely sure
what i'm procrastinating except potentially making myself money,,, which is
stupid of me. but whatever. the blog page has a rad pixel art CRT TV now (that i
made! myself!! you can tell because it looks Not Great) that plays music videos
off of youtube so you're welcome for that.
actually i've been kind of
tempted to start putting video essays in the CRT box instead of music videos.
because wouldn't it be funny to go to someone's blog page and you just have to
listen to a several hour video essay about something you've never heard of while
you scroll? i think that might be at least a little bit funny.
idk this is the least professional professional website and that's fine because
i'm having a good time at least

wow, very first blog post!
what the title says :3
this is mostly just a test to make sure that the blog boxes actually work.
there's absolutely a better way to do this but whateverrr
